Entry level jobs may require no degree or an Associate’s degree.

Accounts Payable Clerk

Accounts Payable Clerk, sometimes referred to as an A/P Clerk, is responsible for paying the bills on behalf of the company. This can include managing purchase orders, receipts, entering invoices, managing payment records. They are typically overseen by another member of the financial management team. 

Payroll Clerk

Payroll Clerks can work hand in hand with the HR department and are responsible for collection, compilation and posting of employee payroll. This can include managing work hours (approving, checking for errors), printing/distributing checks, factoring time off requests and pay, managing deductions (with or without benefit management), calculating tax withholdings, handling wage garnishments, and more. 

Accountant

Accountants typically work on a team of financial management and accounting professionals to support the overall fiscal responsibilities of a business. They create the checks and balances in getting financial work completed without errors. Among other things, they manage the general ledger, cut checks, handle payroll and billing, and oversee other financial staff. Accountants require a four-year degree and have a deep understanding of accounting practices and principals.
